Coalition Urges Senators Chambliss and Graham to Honor Written Pledge Not to Raise Taxes - American Commitment

Washington, D.C.—A coalition of more than two dozen national and state free-market organizations with millions of members, led by American Commitment, is urging U.S. Senators Saxby Chambliss (R-Georgia) and Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) to honor their written commitment to their constituents and the American people not to raise taxes.
As the “fiscal cliff” debate heats up, the coalition letters insist that the wavering senators honor their written commitment to taxpayers and the American people to “oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates” and to “oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”
“Washington, DC has a spending problem, not a revenue problem,” said Phil Kerpen, president of American Commitment. “Senator Chambliss and Senator Graham have an obligation to honor their commitment to taxpayers by opposing all efforts to raise taxes, and seek a balanced budget by stopping reckless federal spending that is harming American families and our economy.”
The full text of the letters can be read here and here.
American Commitment has also launched an online petition calling on Members of the House to “stand strong against any tax hikes in the lame duck session.” The petition can be viewed online at www.HouseStandStrong.com.
