Statement from American Commitment President Phil Kerpen on Abolish the CMMI Act (H.R. 8293):
“American Commitment strongly supports Representative Bean’s legislation to eliminate the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, an agency that was supposed to save taxpayers dollars, but has instead wasted billions without any positive results.
“The proper venue for health care reform is Congress, not an unaccountable federal agency with an open-ended experimentation mandate. Worse, many of its initiatives expose patients and providers to major policy changes without the accountability of the legislative process.
“Ending this agency would prevent further waste and reassert the core Constitutional principle that legislative power is vested in Congress. We urge passage of this important legislation.”
