American Commitment is launching a hard-hitting online ad campaign urging Congress to stop gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe and President Barack Obama’s War on Virginia Coal.
“Terry McAuliffe and Barack Obama have openly declared war on Virginia coal,” said Phil Kerpen, president of American Commitment. “These reckless policies will kill jobs, bankrupt businesses, and drive up energy prices for hard-working Virginia families.”
The 30-second ad, titled “War on Coal,” opens with Barack Obama discussing his policies that are hostile to coal: “So, if somebody wants to build a coal powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re gonna be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.”
It then cuts to clips of Terry McAuliffe voicing strong support for Obama’s radical policies:
MCAULIFFE: “As Governor, I never want another coal plant built.”MCAULIFFE: “Barack Obama is gonna need a partner to work with him to get these things done.” MCAULIFFE: “I’ll be that partner.”
The ad concludes with a call to action, “Tell Congress to Stop the War on Coal,” and directs viewers to www.WarOnCoal.com, American Commitment’s national petition site through which citizens have already sent Congress over 110,000 letters to stop the war on coal.
